Keeping Up with Changes @ Twitter Speed

July 5, 2010

Just a reminder – there are always last minute changes and updates during conferences….things like newly added Meet-Ups, room changes, activities and events. During the conference, we’ll post last minute updates via Twitter. So if you are not already following @HPEF we highly recommend that you do!  Get @HPEF updates  sent to your cellphone so you’ll be able to keep up to date with Team Infinitus during event week.

Anyone know how much it costs to get the updates sent to your cellphone?

It costs whatever you cellphone company charges for incoming texts. twitter doesn’t charge anything at all!

Best be on a text plan and hope HPEF only tweets important things if you’re not on unlimited texting. Not sure how active they are, but I’ve experienced adding a company to my twitter, setting it to go to my cell phone (as texts, I dont have internet on phone) and ended up finding out they tweet hundreds of times within my bill cycle and i almost went over my limit which can be costly as then each text costs money. So watch out for that.

For those that don’t feel comfortable getting twitter updates on their phones, we plan/hope to display them onsite (location TBA – we’re still working out the details).
So if you don’t subscribe to twitter you’ll need to stop by frequently to see if there were any last minute changes (presentation times, locations, etc) vice getting them sent directly to you
