The Night of Frivolity Ball

May 21, 2010

Congratulations to Christine L. for suggesting the “Night of Frivolity Ball”.

We are so excited about planning this year’s ball for you, because we have a few new things for you to enjoy.

Have you ever wanted to dance like Elizabeth and Darcy in Pride and Prejudice or Scarlett and Rhett in Gone With the Wind? Well, this year at Infinitus, you will have a chance.  The Night of Frivolity Ball will begin promptly at 8 p.m. with two formal dances.  Just like Harry and Parvati, you’ll begin your evening spinning through the ballroom in your fancy dress best.

Never danced before?  Don’t worry, we’ll have people there to help you learn the steps.  Simply, show up and enjoy the evening.  Still nervous, we’ll be having a few practice sessions during the week. Look for the schedule to be posted online and in the program.

I love this! Shows like DWTS and SYTYCD have made Ballroom style dancing ‘cool’, but lessons can cost a tonne and are time consuming. It’ll be great to have a chance to learn in such a fun laid-back atmosphere!

This is a fabulous idea. Anything to do with Jane Austen is a plus in my book. Now, how to find a partner…

I was under the impression that the ball can be from shorts and tees to full out dress. Is that correct?

Your page says it begins at 9pm, and this blog says 8pm. Which is it, please?

Sorry for the confusion. There is Coventry dancing from 8-9 p.m. and then the ball kicks off at 9.

Question: do we need to wear masks or is it just a normal, non-masquerade dance?
What kind of music is played?

    • June 28, 2010 4:35 pm

Masks are optional. You can come in costume or just regular muggle clothing. Check out the pics from last year to see a sampling.

I really want to see Team Starkid in A Very Potter Musical Sequel, but it ends at the exact time the ball starts. ): I worry that I might not have enough time to get to the ball (I really want to be there at 8). I guess I’ll just have to leave early in order to make it in time. ):

Is admission to this event included in regular registration?

    • July 6, 2010 9:09 pm

Yes – if you’ve paid for the full regular registration then it is included. It’s only an extra ticket if you purchased a single day registration.

If I had the day registration how much more would it cost to go to the Ball?

If I were to get a one day ticket for another day, would I still be able to purchase a ticket to the ball? And if a friend wanted to accompany me would they be able to purchase s ball ticket?
